Once again, the end of the month has rolled along, and once again I’m left floundering, wondering basically, how in the heck already? But the end of the month is alway fun here because I get to share with you the music I was loving throughout October!
Neon – John Mayer: What a tune to start off. The guitar in the beginning is my favourite part and during the two decent days of sun we got this month, this song was one of the top tunes being played in my house.
Crossfire – Stephen: I hope there’s someone who knows this song. If not, you can listen to it here, and please do, because I’ve had this song in my saved songs for so long and I always come back to it. It’s been a good year and I’m still in love.
Fluorescent Adolescent – Arctic Monkeys: Have to admit, I didn’t listen to this song as much as I sang this song. Literally everywhere, this tune has been stuck in my head for practically the whole month of October. I’m not complaining tbh.
Special – Six60: Aside from their new song River, this song is my all time favourite song from Six60. I feel like a broken record, but it’s a great summer song, a song for a day at the beach or by the pool.
Undercover – Kehlani: Most definitely featured this song elsewhere, but I can’t stop listening to this song. It’s up there in my list of top Lani songs easily.
Up In Here – 5 After Midnight: I believe these guys auditioned for the British X-Factor and placed third last year, but I never really knew of them until they release this banging tune with the chorus of the DMX classic woven through it. Would recommend.
COPYCAT – billie eilish: Now, have just received the AMAZING news that Billie’s coming back to Melbourne so you know I’m already putting aside the money and have the internet tab open to buy tickets. This song is my favourite and I pray to God I get to see it live.
Me and Mr Jones – Amy Winehouse: A classic, that I just found myself listening to so much on the train and on the bus and just in general. Can’t go wrong.
Get Back – The Beatles: Probably one of my favourite Beatles tune.
U-RITE – THEY: THIS SONG. Oh my gosh. I’ve never heard of THEY, but Kenny Wormald (Footloose, 2011), choreographed a dance to it that I was obsessed with, and in turn the song has been stuck in my head for days. Honestly the sirens in the intro must be subliminal or something because they pop into my head at any and all times of the day.
The Tide – Niall Horan: You know I was definitely gonna have one of Niall’s songs from his recent album on this list. Like I mentioned in my post all about the album, this is one of my favourite songs from the whole discography.
Ridin Round – Kali Uchis, Tory Lanez: This is a funky one. Ever since I posted my post about Tyrant, another song from Uchis, I’ve been playing her music non-stop. This song, being one of the most played at the moment.
Bedroom Floor – Liam Payne: Like Niall, Liam Payne also released some new music, being this absolute tune. I love this song. Of the the music he’s released as a solo performer, this is definitely my favourite. The intro kinda sounds like a ringtone, but it’s my favourite. Hands down.
Money – Amine: Aside from Heebiejeebies which I featured in my September Tunes, this is my favourite song from Amine, by himself. I’m biased to Heebiejeebies, just cos my girl Kehlani is on it, but Amine kills this one, all on his own. Have to stop myself from dancing to it in public.
i – Kendrick Lamar: What a tune. If you ever feel down about yourself, this is the only song you need to listen to. I swear. Someone let me give a motivational speech and just watch all of the faces when I pull up a chair and just let this song play for the whole duration. I’ll do it.
Honey – Kehlani: Lani just dropped this one, and I love it. It’s such a chill, light song, but she let’s everyone know where she’s coming from. It’s a track.
Chill Bill – Rob $tone, J. Davi$, Spooks: I originally heard this song at the start of the year, when this athlete I follow on Instagram put it in the background of a hurdles video, and I sat there googling the lyrics because I needed to know what the song was. Now I scream it.
Tyrant – Kali Uchis: Man, I wrote a whole post about Tyrant, so I’ll just link the post. Have a read.
Buddy Holly – Weezer: My university tutor usually plays music before class, and I’m usually one of the first people in class so I get the whole eclectic mix of tunes he picks, and on my last day I was blessed with this absolute throwback.
Where Are You Now – Lady Leshurr: I remember watching the Queen’s Speech 4, and being in absolute awe of this woman, and now to hear her song blowing up, being played on the radio (my mans Triple J), is brilliant. I’m pumped.
Home – Johnnyswim: Johnnyswim are doing amazing things (aka pulling Steph and Ayesha Curry up on stage at their gig to sing with them) and this song gives me all the good vibes, and the memories from driving across the US midwest on a bus this June/July. All the vibes.
Those are the tunes I was really loving this month! Hopefully you all had a lovely October, let me know if you enjoyed any of these songs and let me know what you were listening to in the comments!
