Sri Lanka // Some Film & Some Tunes

Hello friends!

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had an amazing few last days of 2019, and are having an amazing first few days of 2020. I know I’m aiming to make 2020 a year of experiences and growth, if those can be classified as very broadly defined resolutions??

I’m huge on experiencing stuff, and one of my favourite things is experiencing new places, or just something different to the norm. I love going away whether it’s with my family or my friends, and I’m hoping to do heaps more in 2020. Fingers crossed.

In line with that, I thought I’d share some of my favourite film shots I took on my Pentax on the last holiday I went on, to Sri Lanka with my family over November and December. It was a short one for our standards, just over two weeks, but we saw and did so much in those two weeks, that Sri Lanka is easily up there with one of my favourite places in the world. It’s one of the few places I’ve traveled that I can see myself moving to or spending a couple of months living. I also thought, as this is a music blog, I’d share with you a playlist of some songs I listened during the drives around the beautiful, tiny little country.

Spotify Wrapped: 2019

Spotify Wrapped: 2019

Hello hello!!

I’m sure you all expected this to be popping up on your Readers at one point or another, but I thought I’d drop in (I know, I’m shocked at my presence here as well), to share what I’m sure you’ve already heard all about, my 2019’s Spotify Wrapped.

I think this is the third year that I’m doing this post, if you’d like to check out how my music listening tastes have changed (or haven’t changed *ahem Jon Bellion*) in those three years, you can find the post for 2017 HERE and 2018 HERE.

However, we’re here to talk about Spotify Wrapped for 2019! As is the same since last year, Wrapped was everywhere. I didn’t see anything else for a solid two days since I was in a different time zone than usual when it dropped, and I genuinely loved seeing what people listened to. I also nearly teared up each time someone sent me a screenshot of their Wrapped that somehow managed to include some of my music in it as well.

I loved all the new stats and information they shared in this one, and considering it’s 2019, I was super impressed with the decade wrap up as well!

If you checked out your Spotify Wrapped – let me know!! I’d love to hear how yours panned out, what music you were listening to during the year and some of your impressive stats!

Honestly. Pretty spot on for my top artists, 2 through 5. Taking any guesses for my number one artist of the year???

Screen Shot 2019-12-08 at 7.59.55 pm.png
I feel like I could definitely improve here! I sound like I’m marking my own homework, but next year one of my music listening goals is to really branch out geographically with what I listen to.

Happy Holidays … Here’s Some Music

Happy Holidays … Here’s Some Music

Hi friends. I hope you’re all well and thriving!

I’ve had a notable absence on here for the last couple of weeks, but I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll find a bit of time to get some of my drafts finessed and cleaned up for you soon.

I can’t believe the end of 2019 is here. Like…how? Why? Where did it go? I’m honestly so confused as to how fast and quick this entire year has gone by. I swear it was February, and I was hanging out in Rye with my friendsand at music festivals literally … last week.

However, I’m super excited for 2020. Probably more excited than I ought to be. That said, I’m trying to have a great December and make the most of what little of 2019 we have left.  My friend and I have been doing heaps of gigs so far this month, we have a few already lined up for January, and our band is moving super well. We’ve got so many new songs, I’m honestly so excited for what’s to come. On top of that, I graduated from university, so there’s that too. Just a lot going on really. I’ve been working and finishing up last minute Christmas shopping. Any spare moment I have, honest to God, is spent taking naps. I pink promise you, that’s all I’ve been doing in my spare time and I’m still exhausted.

Hopefully, a playlist of some Christmas tunes will help out!

This Christmas: Chris Brown
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – U2
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Ella Fitzgerald
All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
8 Days Of Christmas – Destiny’s Child
What Christmas Means To Me – Stevie Wonder
Jingle Bells – Michael Buble, The Puppini Sisters
Christmas in Hollis – Run-DMC
Santa Tell Me – Ariana Grande
Run Rudolph – Chuck Berry
Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
Last Christmas – Wham!
Give Love On Christmas Day – John Legend
Shake Up Christmas – Train
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – Michael Buble
It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year – Andy Williams
Rockin Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
One More Sleep – Leona Lewis
Blue Christmas – Elvis Presley, Martina McBride
Holly Jolly Christmas – Michael Buble
Winter Wonderland – Tony Bennet, Lady Gaga

Hopefully I’ve stocked you up with plenty of songs to play on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I know I’m super excited to blast them through the house. It’s always a fun juxtaposition celebrating Christmas in Australia, yet singing along and playing countless Christmas classics that talk about snow and cold weather, yet they never lose their magic or energy. It’s a Christmas thing I guess.

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays everyone!

x

Mark x Calvin // Kings Of The Collab

Mark x Calvin // Kings Of The Collab

Hi friends!

Today’s post is a fun one. It’s another playlist, but it’s dedicated to two kings.

It’s no secret by now that I’m a huge fan of Mark Ronson and Calvin Harris, both amazing producers respectively. Not only have they released their music on their own, but they also have a knack for releasing some of the best collaborations to ever exist, and in my eyes, the roster of featuring artists shared between these two make them the absolute best at what they do.

So that’s why, for today’s post I’m going to be sharing the ultimate Mark x Calvin playlist, with some of my favourite collaborations released by each of them.

Nothing Breaks Like A Heart – Mark Ronson ft Miley Cyrus
Slide – Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, Migos
Faking It – Calvin Harris, Kehlani
Valerie – Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson
Late Night Feelings – Mark Ronson, Lykka Li
One Kiss – Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa
Blame – Calvin Harris, John Newman
Don’t Leave Me Lonely – Mark Ronson ft Yebba
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars
Feels – Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Big Sean
Ooh Wee – Mark Ronson, Ghostface Killah, Nate Dogg, Trife and Saigon

Obviously, there’s plenty of other incredible music produced by these two guys, this playlist is purely a collection of my absolute favourites. If you have any favourites that appear on this list, let me know!! I’d love to know if any of you guys are Calvin Harris or Mark Ronson fans too, leave a comment and we can fan over their tunes together!

Very Specific Pt. 18

Very Specific Pt. 18

Hello friends.

Hope you’re all well. Today’s post is another very specific playlist. A week or so ago I had a gig at a bar/beer garden in the evening that’s become a bit of a regular in my calendar. I drove myself there, but I was super early so I decided to chill in my car for a bit.

I was parked in front of a laundromat, how I ever missed that the laundromat was there, I don’t know, but it was there, and I had never actually noticed it before. It was also pretty late, and the late night, sight of the laundromat and the music that was playing in the car just led to the creation of this playlist.

It may not have been 1am when I created this playlist, but this playlist is for the middle of the night, whatever you may be doing.

Green Light - Milan Ring Donna - The Lumineers One Night Only - Sonder The Wilhelm Scream - James Blake Feeling Whitney - Post Malone Parallel - BRIDGE Boys Will Be Boys - Stella Donelly Lost & Found - Lianna La Hava
